What is the Danger Zone?

Written by Zach Koerber

Danger Zone is the last section of Settings → Account details. It holds one control, Close account, described on screen as "Permanently delete your organization and all data".

This is the one part of Settings worth reading carefully before you touch it. Nothing else in the product is this final.

Applies to: Admins

Steps

  1. Click your name at the bottom of the left sidebar, then click Settings.

  2. Under ORGANIZATION, click Account details.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Danger Zone is the last section, below Account Information.

  4. Read the description under the heading: "Permanently delete your organization and all data".

  5. Do not click Close account unless you intend to delete the entire account. Contact support first so we can confirm there is no other way to get you what you need.

What happens next

Close account deletes your organization and everything in it. That means your projects, your commitments, your contracts and generated documents, your vendor records, your templates and merge fields, your document history, and every team member's access. It is permanent, and support cannot restore an account after it is closed.

Close account opens a confirmation dialog titled "Close your account?". It warns that this permanently deletes your organization and all associated data, including contracts, employees, templates, and settings, and that the action cannot be undone. Click Keep account to back out, or Close account again to confirm.

If you are closing the account for billing reasons, contact support first. Your account number is on the same page under Account Information, next to Account Number, and that is what we need to look you up.

If this doesn't work

  • You want to remove one person, not the whole account → Close account is the wrong tool. Go to Settings → Employees & invites, open the person, and use Remove.

  • You want to stop working with a vendor → Close account does not deactivate a vendor. Deactivating a vendor is done on that vendor's own record, and it leaves the rest of your account untouched.

  • You do not see Danger Zone, or you cannot open Account details → your role does not have access to organization settings. Ask an Admin in your account.
