Open the vendor from Vendors in the left sidebar, click Deactivate vendor at the bottom of their Vendor Profile, and confirm in the dialog. Deactivated vendors move to the Deactivated tab on the vendor list.
This is the right move for a vendor you are no longer working with. Nothing is deleted.

Steps
Click Vendors in the left sidebar (or press ⌘V).
Click the vendor to open their Vendor Profile.
Scroll to the bottom of the profile and click Deactivate vendor.
Read the dialog. It is titled "Deactivate" followed by the vendor's company name, for example "Deactivate Acme Electric?", and reads: "This vendor will be removed from active views and will no longer appear in your vendor directory by default. Their documents and history will be preserved and can be restored anytime."
Click Deactivate vendor to confirm, or Keep vendor if you have changed your mind.
What happens next
The vendor drops out of active views and no longer appears in your vendor directory by default. Their status becomes Deactivated, and you find them again by opening Vendors and selecting the Deactivated tab, or the All tab.
This is not a delete. Their documents and history are preserved and can be restored at any time, so deactivating is safe to do on a vendor you might work with again.
Deactivating an individual contact at a vendor is a separate thing from deactivating the vendor company record described here. The steps above remove the whole vendor, not one person on it.
If this doesn't work
You cannot find the vendor afterwards → that is expected. The default view excludes them. Select the Deactivated tab, or All, on the Vendors list.
You wanted to remove one person, not the whole vendor → do not deactivate the vendor for this. Open the vendor's Contacts & Info tab to manage the people on the record, and contact us if you need a specific contact removed.
There is no Deactivate vendor button on the profile → deactivating vendors is available on general contractor accounts only. If you are signed in on a vendor account you will not see it.
