How do I revoke (void) a task or contract?

Written by Zach Koerber

Contracts Connected doesn't delete tasks or contracts. It revokes them. Revoking cancels the request while keeping the record on file, so your audit trail stays intact. The flow is the same for a project-related task or a contract (a contract is revoked through its task). Both are revoked from the project's Tasks tab. There is no revoke control on the global Tasks list, which has no checkboxes and no action bar.

Steps

  1. Open the project and go to its Tasks tab.

  2. Tick the checkbox on the task you want to revoke. You can select more than one.

  3. An action bar appears at the bottom of the list with options for the selected task(s).

  4. Click Revoke, the red option with the circle-and-slash icon, then confirm in the dialog. Do not click the X at the far right of the bar; that just closes the bar and clears your selection.

What happens next

The task is cancelled, its status changes to Void, and it comes out of your active tracking. It stops counting against your action items and the vendor's outstanding list. The record itself stays on file rather than being deleted, which is deliberate: on federal and compliance-heavy work, the history of what was requested matters as much as what was completed.

If this doesn't work

  • If you don't see checkboxes → make sure you're on the project's Tasks tab, not the global Tasks list or a task's detail page, and check your role has the access in Settings → Permission Groups.

  • If you revoked the wrong thing → the underlying record still exists; create a fresh task to reissue the request, and the vendor gets a new link.

  • If you want to remove a contract entirely → deletion isn't offered, by design. Revoke is the supported path, but only while the contract is still open. Once it reaches Executed, Revoke is greyed out and the record is permanent.
