Press ⌘K from anywhere in Contracts Connected to open the search bar, then start typing. One box searches your projects, vendors, and tasks together, so you never have to open a list page first.
Hunting for one vendor record through a directory of hundreds is the slowest way to work, and this is the shortcut most people miss.
Applies to: All users
Steps
Press ⌘K from any page. You can also click Search… at the top of the left sidebar.
Start typing. The box is labelled Search the application and prompts you with "Search projects, vendors, tasks…".
Type a fragment rather than the full title. Part of a vendor name, a project number, or a few letters of a task name is usually enough.
Read the results, which arrive grouped by type. Each result carries context on the right, such as the project a task belongs to or a vendor's location, so you can tell near-identical records apart.
Move through results with the ↑ and ↓ arrow keys, open the highlighted one with ↵ Enter, and close the search bar with Esc.
What else the search bar does
The same panel is also the fastest way to move around.
Jump to a section. Without typing anything, you can select Dashboard, Tasks, Projects, Vendors, or Settings. Templates is not in this list. Open Templates from the Library group in the left sidebar, or press ⌘L.
To start something new, use the blue + button at the right of the page header rather than the search panel. It offers New project ("Create a project"), New commitment ("Start a commitment package"), New change order ("Adjust a commitment"), and New task ("Create a task").
What happens next
Opening a result takes you straight to that item's own page, whether that is a vendor's profile, a project, or a task. Because ⌘K works from anywhere, you can search again from wherever you land without navigating back to a list.
If this doesn't work
Nothing comes up for a name you know exists → try a shorter fragment. Searching part of a name matches more reliably than typing the full title with punctuation.
Several near-identical results → use the context shown to the right of each result to pick the right one, for example the project a task sits under.
⌘K does nothing → click Search… at the top of the left sidebar instead. Some browser extensions capture keyboard shortcuts before the page receives them.
You are looking at a different search box → the Dashboard has its own filter field prompting "Search tasks, vendors, projects...". That one filters the Dashboard only. For an account-wide search, use ⌘K.
