How do I create a project-related task?

Written by Zach Koerber

A project-related task sends a one-off document, request, or acknowledgment to a vendor tied to their commitment on a specific project: things like project addendums, safety acknowledgments, or scope clarifications.

Steps

  1. Click the blue + Create button (top right, on any page) and choose New Task.

  2. Under Task Type, select "For a project commitment", for tasks tied to a vendor's commitment on a specific project.

  3. Work through the steps in the dialog:

    • Project & commitments: pick the project, then the commitments you are sending the document for.

    • Documents: attach or request the document(s) involved.

    • Fill in the details: this step appears only if the document you picked has merge fields.

    • People: assign your internal coordinator and the vendor-side recipient.

  4. Finish at Review & Send, then click Send task in the bottom-right of the drawer. The button stays greyed out until the steps above are complete.

What happens next

The vendor receives the request, and the task appears in your tracking: on the project's Tasks tab, in the Dashboard Waiting on Vendor count, and in the compliance Tracker. When the vendor responds, it lands in your action items for review.

If this doesn't work

  • If the vendor isn't selectable → they need an active commitment on the project; check the project's Commitments tab.

  • If it's about the vendor generally (not one project) → use a vendor-related task instead (see the companion article).
