The people who review and approve your commitment are the Approvers set by your project's approval rules, not by the commitment itself, and you can see exactly who they are, and in what order, on the commitment's read-only Approval flow panel. Whoever the project's rules designate as an Approver is who reviews and approves it.
This trips people up because the approvers live at the project level, not on the individual commitment, so the same reviewers apply to every commitment in that project.
Steps
Open the commitment you want to check, from your dashboard Pipeline or the project's Commitments tab.
Click the approval summary in the commitment header. It shows the approver avatars, the approver count, and the routing type, for example "2 approvers · Sequential". The Approval flow panel opens.
Read the APPROVERS list. Each row shows the approver's name, their job role (or Approver if no role is set), and their numbered position in the order. Click the name to open their contact card, which shows the email with a copy action. A row also reads Optional next to the role when that approver is not required. The section header shows the count, for example "2 APPROVERS".
Check the ROUTING chip at the top of the panel. When it shows Sequential, approvers review one at a time in the listed order, and each approver is notified only after the previous one approves.
Note: The Approval flow panel is read-only. A lock icon and the notice "Read-only here. Approval rules are managed at the project level so the same flow applies to every commitment in this project" mark it as view-only, so you cannot add, remove, or reorder approvers from inside the commitment.
Note: Reviewing and approving a commitment is separate from signing the contract. The person who signs is set in the separate Contract Signer field, and an Approver does not sign the contract by approving it.
Click Manage in project settings at the bottom of the panel to open the editable rules. This takes you to Project Setup, at the Commitment Approvals section.
Required to save a workflow: a Workflow Type (Create new Workflow or Select Template), a Workflow Approach (Sequential, Parallel, or Conditional), and at least one Approver.
Important: Changing these rules updates the review flow for every commitment in the project, not just this one. Confirm that is what you want before you save.
Build the chain, then click Save Changes. Add or remove people with Add Approver, set each person's Required toggle, and put them in order for Sequential routing. The new list and order apply to every commitment in the project.
What happens next
Viewing the Approval flow panel changes nothing on its own, because it is read-only. When the commitment is sent for approval, each Approver is notified in the order listed. On Sequential routing, the next approver is notified only after the one before them approves. The commitment shows a progress count, for example "0/2", and the person whose turn it is sees an Approve and Reject bar with the note "Your approval is requested".
Once every required approver approves, the commitment moves to Approved and is ready to send to the vendor. On the dashboard Pipeline, a commitment in the In Review column shows a Review & Approve button and names exactly who it is waiting on, for example "Waiting for Monique Cox to review".
If this doesn't work
If you cannot add, remove, or reorder approvers from the panel → that is expected. The Approval flow panel is read-only (note the lock icon and the "Read-only here" notice). Click Manage in project settings to change who reviews the commitment.
If a later approver has not been notified yet → check the ROUTING. When it shows Sequential, each approver is notified only after the previous one approves, so approvals happen one at a time in the listed order.
If the Approval flow panel does not open → open the commitment first, then click the approval summary in the commitment header, the chip showing the approver count and routing type.
