To start a commitment, click Create in the top right, choose New commitment, then fill in the four basics (Name, Project, Package, and Vendor) and click Create commitment.
Getting the first commitment going is the part most people pause on, so here is what each field needs.
Steps
1. Click Create in the top right, then click New commitment. The New commitment window opens.
2. Enter a Name for the commitment.
3. Click Project and search for the project this commitment belongs to.
4. Click Choose package and pick the package for this commitment. This field stays locked until you select a project first.
5. Click Select a vendor and choose the vendor who will receive it.
Required fields: Name, Project, Package, Vendor (all four are required).
6. Click Create commitment.
What happens next
The commitment is created as a Draft and appears in your dashboard Pipeline and on the project's Commitments tab, where you fill in the contract details before it goes out for approval and signature. Starting it here just sets the basics, and the document details come next. Commitment is also known as scope.
If this doesn't work
If Choose package is locked → you have not picked a project yet. The window shows "Select a project first to choose a package." Choose the Project, then the package list opens.
If your project does not appear in the Project search → it has not been created yet. Create the project first, then start the commitment.
If no package is available after picking a project → that project's playbook has no package attached. Set up the package under Templates, then try again.
