Unlock the key steps to drafting a comprehensive scope for your subcontractors within any project using our Contracts Connected platform. This video tutorial guides you through the process of creating a project scope, ensuring clarity and precision in your project's requirements and expectations.
1. Access Your Project
Steps
From the Dashboard, click Projects in the left-hand menu.
Select the project where you want to create a new scope.
Example: ABC Building Repair and Repaint
Once inside the project, click the Scopes tab to view existing scopes.
If there are no scopes yet, you’ll see an empty screen ready for setup.
2. Add a New Scope
Ways to Add
You can create a new scope in two ways:
Click “Add Scope” within the Scopes tab, or
Use the “Add” button located in the top-right corner (always accessible).
Click “New Scope.”
The system will automatically pre-fill your project name (e.g., ABC Building).
If needed, you can switch to a different project using the dropdown.
3. Fill in Scope Details
Information to Enter
Complete all required fields to define the scope accurately:
Scope Name: e.g., Drywall
Subcontractor: Select from invited companies (e.g., ZK Drywall).
Scenario: Choose the scenario selected during project setup (e.g., Private Design Build).
Office Location: Select the correct office if multiple are listed.
Company License: Choose the applicable license (e.g., Drywall Contractor License).
Contract Type: Select which type of agreement applies (e.g., Subcontractor Agreement – Short Form).
💡 Tip: The selected contract type determines the initial documents and workflow that will be attached to this scope.
4. Add Budget and Contract Information
Include all necessary financial and tracking details:
Due Date: Set the target date for scope completion.
Scope Budget: Input the total subcontracted amount.
Contract Number: Assign or auto-generate a tracking ID.
Work Items: Itemize each portion of the subcontractor’s work.
Internal Budget and Cost: Enter your internal values for visibility and margin tracking.
5. Complete Scope Details
Provide descriptive and supporting information:
Scope Description: Outline the specific work being subcontracted.
Exclusions: Note what is not included in the subcontractor’s work.
Additional Fields: Click “Add New Field” if you need to include extra information (e.g., special conditions, owner requirements, or project notes).
💡 Tip: The more detailed your scope, the clearer and more efficient your approval and contract process will be.
6. Save the Scope
Steps
Click Save Scope once all information is entered.
The screen will refresh, confirming that your scope has been created.
Navigate back to the Scopes tab to see the newly added entry listed under your project.
Example:
The Drywall scope now appears under ABC Building Repair and Repaint.
7. Next Steps
After creating the scope, the next step is internal communication and contract distribution.
You’ll collaborate with internal approvers, finalize the contract, and send it to the subcontractor — covered in the following workflow video.
8. Key Takeaway
Drafting your scope correctly ensures your subcontractor’s contract type, budget, and documents are all aligned.
This step lays the foundation for smooth collaboration, accurate tracking, and efficient contract delivery within Contracts Connected.
