This workflow explains what a subcontractor sees when they log into Contracts Connected, so general contractors know exactly what to expect when communicating with them.

1. Subcontractor Login Overview

Steps

  1. When a subcontractor logs into Contracts Connected, they’ll immediately see:

    • A list of projects they are assigned to.

    • The name of the general contractor they are working under.

  2. By clicking on a project (e.g., ABC Building Repair and Repaint), they can view:

    • All tasks assigned to their company.

    • The statuses for each task, such as:

      • Pending Submission

      • Pending Acknowledgment

      • Signature Required

💡 Tip: This gives subcontractors a simple overview of everything they need to complete — similar to how you manage your dashboard as a general contractor.

2. Subcontractor Dashboard

The subcontractor dashboard is a simplified version of the general contractor’s dashboard.

Key Features

  • Displays the total number of tasks (e.g., “9 tasks”).

  • Breaks down overdue vs. upcoming tasks (e.g., “5 overdue, 4 on time”).

  • Provides a color-coded task timeline:

    • Red – Overdue

    • Green – Upcoming and not yet due

Steps

  1. Subcontractors can click on a task count to see details.

  2. They can filter by timeframe (for example, view all tasks due in the next two weeks).

  3. Clicking any task opens its details and allows them to take action immediately.

3. Uploading Required Documents

When a subcontractor opens a task:

  1. They will see an example file or template you’ve shared as guidance.

  2. They can click “Browse” to upload their own completed document from their computer.

  3. Once uploaded, they click Submit.

What Happens Next

  • The document’s status changes to Pending Approval.

  • You (the general contractor) will see it on your dashboard and must approve or reject it.

💡 Tip: Encourage subcontractors to use the upload feature rather than emailing documents — this keeps all files centralized and auditable.

4. Reviewing and Signing Contracts

Subcontractors can also handle contract signatures directly within the platform.

Steps

  1. In their Projects tab, subcontractors can open a task marked Signature Required.

  2. From here, they can:

    • Download the contract package.

    • Review the contents and sign.

    • Return the signed contract via upload or email if needed.

Once submitted, the document’s status updates accordingly (e.g., Signed / Pending Approval).

5. Acknowledging Documents

Some documents only require acknowledgment rather than upload or signature.

Steps

  1. Subcontractors will see tasks labeled Pending Acknowledgment.

  2. They can click the task, review the document, and click Acknowledge.

  3. A confirmation box appears — once confirmed, the status updates to Completed.

💡 Example:
This is used when you want subcontractors to confirm they’ve reviewed safety policies, project instructions, or updated scope notes.

6. Key Takeaways

The subcontractor’s interface is intentionally simple — allowing them to:

  • View and track assigned tasks and deadlines.

  • Upload required documents and contracts.

  • Acknowledge and confirm project communications.

  • Work entirely within the Contracts Connected platform, reducing email dependence.

By understanding their experience, you’ll be able to better guide subcontractors, address questions, and maintain smooth collaboration across every project.
