Learn how to efficiently approve project scopes and streamline the contract workflow process with our step-by-step video tutorial. This guide walks you through the process of reviewing and approving scopes, ensuring clear communication and seamless progression towards project execution.

1. Access the Scope Awaiting Approval

Steps

  1. From your Dashboard or Projects page, locate the project that includes the scope requiring approval.

  2. Open the Scope marked as “Sent for Draft Signature.”

  3. You’ll see who the Approver is — for example, Lars Herman may be listed as responsible for approving or rejecting the scope of work.

💡 Tip: Only designated approvers can finalize this step and enable the contract to move forward.

2. Review Scope Details Before Approval

Before approving, carefully review all key details to ensure accuracy.

Checklist for Review

  • ✅ Confirm the correct contract form (e.g., short or long form subcontractor agreement).

  • ✅ Check that the scope aligns with the project requirements and budget.

  • ✅ Verify compliance with company standards and any owner requirements.

  • ✅ Review other quotes, if applicable, for comparison.

  • ✅ Examine project status to ensure you are “in the green” and ready to proceed.

💡 Tip: Approvers act as the final gatekeeper for quality and accuracy — double-check every important detail.

3. Review and Collaborate Using Chats

Steps

  1. Scroll to the Chats section within the scope view.

  2. Review any previous discussions from when the scope was in draft status.

  3. If needed, tag additional team members to ask clarifying questions or get final confirmations.

  4. Team members can respond directly in the thread for quick collaboration.

💬 Example:

“@Alex Can you confirm this matches the revised drywall pricing from last week?”

💡 Tip: Use tagging for real-time collaboration and to maintain an audit trail of all scope-related communication.

4. Approve the Scope

When you’ve verified all details and are ready to move forward:

Steps

  1. Click the Approve button.

  2. Once approved, the “Push Commitment” button becomes visible.

  3. This indicates that your approval has been logged and the scope is now ready for contract distribution.

5. Handoff to Contract Administrator

After approval:

  • Your job as the Approver is complete.

  • The Contract Administrator (or Controller) can now:

    • Click “Push Commitment.”

    • Generate and send the contract to the subcontractor’s inbox.

💡 Tip: Once you approve, the workflow automatically unlocks for the next responsible party — maintaining smooth handoffs and clear accountability.

6. Key Takeaway

Approving a scope is the final quality checkpoint before contract distribution.
A thorough review ensures that contracts are correct, compliant, and ready to send — enabling your team to keep projects moving efficiently without backtracking or rework.
